According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, a shutdown of the 33KV Khanda Tap line will be required to carry out conductor stringing under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) from BK Pora to Khanda. As a result, the 33/11KV Receiving Station at Khanda will remain non-functional, affecting power supply to Chattergam, Magrapora, Suthsoo, Gowherpora and adjoining areas from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM on April 21 and April 23.

In a separate update, KPDCL said that the widening and strengthening of the two-lane National Highway from Rafiabad to Tangdhar via Kupwara and Chowkibal, being undertaken by BEACON authorities, will necessitate the shutdown of the 33KV Kupwara Hot, Kupwara Old, and MES lines. This will lead to a halt in operations at several receiving stations including Tikker, Galizoo, Drugmulla, Khumriyal, Krusen, Diver, Sogam, and Machil.

Consequently, power supply to Kupwara town, Gulgam, Pazipora, Drugmulla, Nagri, Arampora, the entire Lolab Valley, Machil and nearby areas will be affected from 11:00 AM to 05:00 PM on April 22.

KPDCL has advised residents in the affected areas to take note of the outage schedule and make necessary arrangements in advance. The utility has assured that power will be restored as soon as the work is completed on the given days.
