SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) and Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL) have announced a scheduled power shutdown across various areas of Jammu and Kashmir to facilitate infrastructure development, maintenance works, and system upgrades.
According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, a shutdown of the 33KV Nowbugh-Nagam line will be observed for the construction of the 33 KV Nowbugh Khanda line from GSS Nowbugh via Kuzwara Gowherpora. As a result, the 33/11KV Receiving Stations at Char-I, Char-II, Hafroo, and Nagam will remain off. Power supply to Kakawring, Yousmarg, Charisharief, Rakhayee, Tilsera, Badipora, Nagam, Hayatpora, Hafroo, Bizgo, Loolipora, and adjoining areas will be affected from 06:00 AM to 02:00 PM on July 19.
Simultaneously, the 33KV Nowbugh-Chadoora line will also undergo shutdown. Receiving Stations at Chadoora, Panzan, Ranger, and Wathoora will remain off, affecting power supply to Sogam, Repora, Dawlatpora, Panzan, Lalgam, Chadoora, Chadoora Hospital, Wathoora, Bugam, and adjoining areas from 06:00 AM to 02:00 PM on the same day.
In Anantnag district, works related to the commissioning of an additional 6.3 MVA power transformer at Zirpora will require shutdown of the 33KV Zirpora Tap line. Receiving Stations at Zirpora and Cheniwudar will be off, affecting supply to Srigufwara, Bewoora, Kanelwan, Darigund, Thajiwara, Dupatyar, and nearby localities from 08:00 AM to 02:00 PM on July 19.
To facilitate preventive maintenance of the Khiram Tap line, power will also remain affected in Mehand, Khiram, Sirhama, and adjoining areas from 08:00 AM to 02:00 PM on July 19 due to shutdown of the 33KV Khiram Tap line.
In Srinagar, the shutdown of 33KV Centaur-Buchwara line is planned for maintenance near Botanical Garden. Receiving Stations at Centaur and Buchwara will be affected, causing disruption in supply to Mammer Zabarwan Park, Centaur Hotel, SKICC, Nehru Park, Dalgate, Dal, and nearby areas from 08:00 AM to 10:00 AM on July 19.
The 33KV Brein-Nishat line will also be shut down, affecting Receiving Stations at Brein-Nishat and PHE Dal Bandh. Areas including Brein, Tulip Garden, Brein Phallo, Taj Vivanta, BSNL Exchange, Nishat, Foreshore Road, and Pathan Bagh will see power disruption from 08:00 AM to 10:00 AM on July 19.
Power supply to BB Cantonment area will remain off from 07:00 AM to 01:00 PM on July 19 due to shutdown of the 33KV Centaur-BB Cant. Tap line.
Additionally, to facilitate branch cutting and preventive maintenance, a shutdown of the 33KV Pampore-Badamibagh (Sonwar Tap line) will be carried out on July 21. Receiving Station at Sonwar will remain off, affecting Batwara, Shivpora, Indranagar, and parts of Badamibagh from 08:00 AM to 12:00 Noon.
In north Kashmir, under the RDSS scheme and for maintenance, the 33KV Amargarh-Watergam line will be shut down. Receiving Stations at Watergam, Hachipora, and Hadipora will remain off, impacting supply to Watergam, Dangiwach, Hachipora, Hadipora, and surrounding areas from 08:00 AM to 01:00 PM on July 19.
Meanwhile, in Jammu region, the Executive Engineer of Electric Division-I, JPDCL Parade, has notified that power supply to areas including Tali Mohalla Jari, Simbal Lad Mallah, Panyal Jagti, Tanda-I near Government School, Jhari-IV Katoch Mohalla, Saya, Jhari (BPL), Jagati (Sarpanch Mohalla), Tanda-III, Tanda (Main Road), Dhammi-I, Dhammi-II, and Dhammi-III will remain affected between July 17 and 28 from 08:00 AM to 03:00 PM daily.
The power corporations have urged the public to bear with the inconvenience and advised planning accordingly during the notified hours.
