A pregnant lady on Monday evening died in a private hospital allegedly due to the negligence of doctors while being operated.
Rehana, 30, who hails from Dalgate area of Srinagar, was admitted in Sheikh-ul-Alam hospital, Karanagar, on Sunday and was expecting a baby. “She had got married just 10 months back and now she is dead. She died of profuse bleeding at 7.30 on Monday evening”, said her brother who was waiting outside Rainawari hospital where Rehana’s post mortem was going on.
Police station Shaheed Gunj is investigating the case and has registered a case, FIR 12/2013 under section 304 A RPC.
Brother of the deceased informed Kashmir Life that the deceased was admitted in the hospital on March 3, and was expecting to be operated and deliver a baby on Tuesday. “She was told to get ready for operation on Monday evening in a surprising manner. Rehana told the doctor that she had taken food but they insisted her to get ready for the operation which was earlier scheduled for Tuesday”, He said.
According to the hospital sources doctors managed to save the baby who has been shifted to GB Panth hospital. The relatives of the deceased told Kashmir Life that after the news about her death spread doctors and other medical staff vanished from the hospital.
Despite repeated attempts from Kashmir Life, hospital administration did not pick up the call.
