The resignation was accepted under Article 75(2) of the Constitution. The President has also assigned Cabinet Minister Pralhad Joshi the additional charge of the Ministry of Education, in addition to his existing portfolio, with immediate effect.

Pradhan tendered his resignation on July 25 amid weeks of nationwide protests led by students and youth over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 examination paper leak.

With the latest decision, Joshi will oversee the Ministry of Education until further arrangements are made by the government.

The notification issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan confirmed that the changes in the Union Council of Ministers took effect immediately following the President’s approval. No announcement has yet been made regarding the appointment of a full-time Union Education Minister.
