Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani Sunday stated that the mission of the July 13, 1931 martyrs is yet to be accomplished and that nothing from 1931 has changed in Kashmir as people still shoulder the coffins of their loved ones.

The party handout issued by the spokesperson of Syed Ali Geelani said that the mission of the martyrs of 1931 is still incomplete and the success of the Sunday’s shutdown call has proven that the people have nether forgotten that mission and nor have they accepted the time to time sell-outs of the pro-Indian people, which they have did with the blood of the martyrs.

While terming the laying of garlands on the martyrs’ graveyard by the Omar Abdullah, Mufti Sayeed and other unionist politicians as their “hypocrisy and cunningness”, the senior pro freedom leader stated that if they would have been ‘people with the  self conscience’ then they would have definitely felt ‘ashamed’ on visiting the martyrs’ graveyard, because in 1931, the atrocities and the cruelties which the Dogra rulers unleashed upon the people here, “today they (pro-Indian politicians) are doing worst of that and they are acting like Jaffar and Sadiq and are helping the Indian forced occupation instead of their own nation”.

“Nothing has changed in Kashmir, here people were shouldering the funerals of their children in 1931 and today also these kind of incidents happen every day, where the old parents are seen mourning over the dead bodies of their loved ones. If anything has changed that is, in 1931 there was only one Hari Singh riding our backs and today the every pro-Indian politician is proving Hari Singh for the common Kashmiri and they are massacring the people of their own nation by becoming the helping hands of the oppressors,” Geelani said.

He added that the martyrs of 13 July sacrificed their precisions lives for the dignity of the holy Quran and presented their blood for the freedom of their nation but the present leadership have shown disloyalty towards the holy Quran and they have become “traitors by pushing their nation into the worst kind of Indian slavery. So they have no moral right to even name the martyrs.

“Now when we have sacrificed six lakh lives for the completion of the mission of the martyrs of 13 July 1931, we will not allow any opportunist to play with these sacred graves and until a single Indian solider is present on our soil, we will continue our just struggle in any way and at any cost,” he further said.

Geelani also condemned the house arrest of pro-freedom leadership including Tehreek-e-Hurriyat General Secretary Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Dr. Ghulam Mohammad Ganai, and Raja Mehraj-ud-Din in the backdrop of 13 July and termed it the worst kind of state terrorism.
