Minister of State for Information, Education and Culture, Ms. Priya Sethi informed the House that the land measuring 3321 kanals-02 Marlas has been acquired for establishment of the Central University of Kashmir at Ganderbal and an amount of Rs. 20.61 Crore stands released on account of compensation of the land acquired for establishment of the University.

Replying to a Calling Attention Notice by Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar, the Minister said that the University had awarded some works to the CPWD which, however, the University has not accepted citing certain deficiencies in the works especially related to Soil Investigation and Contour Mapping.

The Minister said due to poor performance of the CPWD in executing the projects assigned to it, the University initiated the process of engaging an alternative Project Management Consultant (PMC) by floating Expression of Interest (EoI) at National Level, which was open to all public sector units involved with execution of construction works.

The Minister said after following a transparent and competitive process, the University has selected M/s NBCC limited as its PMC for the execution of all other construction projects.

The University selected an architect through Architectural Design Competition and the selected architect is working on the drawings, plans, BOQs of the buildings to be constructed in the Phase-I of the campus development.
