SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday attached properties of two drug peddlers under the NDPS Act 1985 in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

A police spokesman in a statement said, “A double-storied residential house valuing approximately Rs 20,97,291/- belonging to a notorious drug peddler namely Fayaz Ahmad Rather son of Gh Mohd Rather resident of Karimabad and Two Shops with 2nd floor as residential apartment valuing approximately Rs 27,35,186/- which belongs to a drug peddler namely Mohd Maqbool Bhat @Tola son of Ali Mohd Bhat resident of Dalipora Pulwama were attached under section 8/21-29 NDPS Act 1985.”

Both individuals are currently under legal custody. “The attachment was carried out in accordance with the due legal process outlined in FIR No. 301/2023 U/S 8/21-29 NDPS Act of PS Pulwama, underscoring the vigilant stance of Pulwama Police against those involved in the drug trade,” the statement said.

“This action reaffirms the commitment of Police to combat the drug menace. Local people of the area have hailed the initiative of Police with regard to the attachment of properties, which have been raised/ used from illicit trafficking of narcotics by the drug peddlers in the District Pulwama,” it added—(KNO)
