A civilian who according to police was injured critically amid militants and government forces exchange brief gunfire at Kakapora in Pulwama, succumbed to injuries on late Sunday night.

Official sources said that suspected militants opened fire upon army’s 50 RR camp at Kakapora.

While confirming the incident, a top police official said that militants fired upon the army camp late this night.

The fire was retaliated by army triggering off a brief encounter.

Sources said that the civilian has been identified as Bilal Ahmad Ganaie, a resident of Naraw Lajoora, Pulwama. He was hit with bullets and died on spot.

However, SSP pulwama said that the civilian was shifted to PHC Kakapora where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, the body of slain has been shifted to police station Kakapora.

Earlier militants attacked army camp Kakpora, in retaliation army fired back on them.

During the firing exchange, one civilian and one army man had sustained injuries.
