National Conference leader and Constituency Incharge Pampore, Yawar Masoodi Wednesday strongly condemned the death of youth in Naina.

He has also condemned the “security forces excesses” in South Kashmir during past one year. “The entire population,” Yawar complained, “is being tortured and terrorised without any reason, making day to day life of people difficult and miserable.”

“Recent incidents in Pulwama are indicative of the extent of sufferings of the people of South Kashmir, that Pulwama town was put under curfew for weeks together without an effort to respect aspirations and feelings of the people. The recent deaths of civilians in firing incidents and injuries to scores has exposed hollow claims of politicians that ‘people would be given to express dissent’ and slogans like Goli se Nahi Boli se,” he said in a statement issued here this evening.

“The arrest spree, torture and killings in South Kashmir are highly condemnable and should be stopped immediately, without allowing things to go out of control,” he added and demanded relief to and rehabilitation of bereaved families and injured and appointment of next of kin of the deceases.
