Government Saturday released the Chief Coordinator of Democratic Political Party, a constituent of Syed Ali Geelani led Hurriyat Conference.
Shakeel Ahmed Bhat was arrested by police in July this year and was lodged in Srinagar Central Jail. Spokesperson DPM told local news agency CNS that “Shakeel Ahmed Bhat was released by authorities as police failed to prove the proper grounds of detention in the court of law.”
Bhat played a key role in 2008 and 2010 in organizing pro-freedom protests that earned him the title of ‘Islamic Rage Boy.’ He had been booked for more than 12 times under Public Safety Act.
