SRINAGAR

As the legislative assembly started its routine business Tuesday, BJP and Panthers party members strongly raised the issue relating to tension in Rajouri.

The speaker wanted to start the question hour but the said members informed the house that communal tension is going on in the area and the town is observing complete shutdown against what they call “discriminatory approach of police”.

The members from the treasury benches however, alleged that the BJP and Panthers party members try to do politics on the issue.

Er Rashid suggested disarming the VDCs saying “if you want peace in the region disarming VDCs is a must because by arming VDCs you are provoking the members of a particular community”.

Er was interrupted by BJP and Panthers members and there was a brief heated argument between Rashid and BJP and Panthers members.

Speaker of the house, Mubarak Gul, directed the government to come with a detailed statement about the issue later in the house.
