Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Wednesday stated that the Government will take up on priority the issue of providing ration to the people as per the Census of 2011.

The Chief Minister was speaking while intervening in supplementary to a question asked in the Legislative Council.

Referring to the “Agenda of Alliance” of the Coalition Government, the Chief Minister said that adequate provisions of ration in all rural and semi urban areas, even if on a no-profit and no-loss basis will be ensured.

The Chief Minister, while assuring the House, said he will take up the issue of streamlining ration distribution with the Union Government also. He further said the demand for import of food-grains into the State has increased as the farmers prefer cultivating cash crops owing to greater income returns.
