SRINAGAR: Businessman Sandeep Chattoo has passed away. He was admitted to a hospital in Delhi where he passed away.

Reports said Chattoo, who owns CH2 Hotel in Sonawar Bagh Srinagar, was unwell for some time. He earlier had one intervention in Srinagar involving his heart. It was not immediately known if he was admitted to a Delhi hospital for his cardiac ailments but reports suggest he died of cardiac arrest.

Apart from running a liquor shop – the licence of which he could not revive for the last few years, Sandeep was also a promoter of the Real Kashmir Football Club.

Chattoo is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.

It was not immediately known if his mortal remains were being flown to Srinagar for the last rites or if it would be done in Delhi. One of his friends said there is a probability of him being taken to Jammu where his mother lives but he was not sure.

The J&K Football Association has mourned Sandeep’s “sudden and heartbreaking loss”. “Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and the entire football fraternity,” the Association said in a statement. 

Right now, Real Kashmir FC is busy in the i-League. With 20 points to its credit, it is right now at rank two. Of 11 matches, it played, it won six and lost three as two were draws.

Real Kashmir FC has issued the following statement:

“Real Kashmir Football Club (RKFC) owner Sandeep Chatoo died on Sunday due to a cardiac arrest in New Delhi.

Sandeep, a Kashmiri Pandit, was in New Delhi for work when he suffered a massive heart attack. He was promptly rushed to the hospital but, unfortunately, could not survive

Family sources have confirmed that his body will be brought to Jammu for his final rites.
Sandeep, survived by his wife, son, and daughter, also owned CH2 Hotel Sonawar.

Formed in 2016 by Sandeep, RKFC has transcended its role as just a football club, becoming a significant platform for valley youth. It has actively engaged in promoting local players, sending them to various countries, and competing in top leagues across India. Sandeep’s unwavering commitment to local players has resulted in many individuals from Jammu and Kashmir participating in the country’s premier football leagues. The RKFC is the only club from J&K participating in the I League.

The RKFC staff has conveyed their condolences to the grieving family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.”
