Red Fort Closed to Public from July 15 to August 15

   

SRINAGAR: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has ordered the closure of the Red Fort to the public from July 15 to August 15, 2026, in view of preparations and security arrangements for the Independence Day celebrations.

The order, issued by the ASI on July 9, stated that the monument will remain closed to all visitors until the conclusion of the Independence Day celebrations on August 15, 2026.

The directive has been issued under Rule 5 of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Rules, 1959, with the approval of the Director General of the ASI.

As part of the order, the ASI has directed its Website and IT Section to suspend online booking of entry tickets for the Red Fort during the closure period and upload the notification on the official website.

The Superintending Archaeologist of the ASI’s Delhi Circle has also been instructed to give wide publicity to the closure to avoid inconvenience to visitors.
