Protest Outside CM's Residence

Vehicular movement came to a standstill for half an hour after scores of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) female teachers staged a protest outside the Gupkar based residence of Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.

The protesters assembled outside the CM residence and blocked the traffic. They were demanding their regularization.

President KGBV Teachers Forum, Mymona Khan told CNS that shortly after the protest, a police party arrived on the spot, however, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti asked them not to disperse the protesters. “Mehbooba Ji called us inside her house and gave a patient hearing. She talked to Education Minister Naeem Akhtar on phone who assured us that our issue will be resolved by August 17 this month,” Khan said adding that after the assurance from Mehbooba Mufti and the Education Minister, the KGBV teachers decided to defer their protest till August 17.

“Mehbooba Ji told us that she will be always there for us and told us to knock at her door on August 17, in case their issue is not addressed,” another teacher Shahzada Banoo said.

Pertinently, KGBV female teachers have been continuously protesting from past many days. They have been demanding regularization of their services.
