Awami Ittehad Party chief and independent MLA Er Rasheed Thursday cautioned government not to give an impression that it has done some favor to the people of Handwara by removing the army bunker at main Chowk Handwara.

Rashid said, “The way local politicians are trying to get political dividends from the issue is condemnable.”

During his visit to various villages of Handwara today, Rasheed praised people for their “resistance” against the “state sponsored terrorism” during last few days. “It was all due to sacrifices of people of district Kupwara that government had to concede to their demands.”

Rasheed said, “Removal of army bunker by no way means justice to the martyrs as people of Kashmir have made huge sacrifices for the resolution of Kashmir issue. People will feel satisfied only when army will go back to barracks in every village and town and GOI will sincerely come to the negotiating table for the resolution of Kashmir issue.”

“It is in India’s own interest to resolve Kashmir dispute as delay in resolution not only gives India a bad name at the international forum but also has become an impediment in India becoming UN’s prominent member,” Rasheed added.

Rasheed cautioned all political parties to stop cashing sacrifices and reminded them that people of Handwara and elsewhere have sacrificed for a bigger cause which leads to resolution of Kashmir issue.
