Authorities on Friday imposed restrictions in old city parts of Srinagar as a ‘precautionary measure’ in wake of the prevailing situation in the aftermath of recent civilian killings in Shopian and Srinagar.

All areas coming under the jurisdiction of six police stations — Parimpora, Khanyar, Nowhatta, Safakadal, M.R. Gunj and Rainawari — were sealed with concertina wires and barricaded to stop the movement of vehicles.

Notably, the district administration Srinagar has ordered the suspension of the class work in all the colleges in the district on Friday.

Officials in the district administration Srinagar said that the class work in all the colleges in the district will remain suspended today  (Friday) in view of the prevailing situation.

They said that the decision was taken as ‘precautionary measure’.
