Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday sought the help of the general public in tracing a tourist from Haryana who has gone missing from Srinagar.

Missing Tourist

A spokesman of police said that the tourist namely Rahul Basan son of Bharat Bhushan resident of Kundli Border Haryana has gone missing from Srinagar.

“Today an application was received by Police Station Mattan for lodging the missing report of tourist namely Rahul Basan son of Bharat Bhushan resident of Kundli Border Haryana. The report was lodged by Sandeep Bhatia son of C M Bhatia resident of Faridabad,” a police official said.

“As per the report received, the group consisted of 15  members including two Innova drivers who had left Faridabad on 07/05/2018 towards Vaishno Devi and various other places. As per the report, the missing person was the last one to join the group and all the pilgrims before leaving for the trip, had tea at his residence in Haryana, where they also interacted with his family, ”he said.

“As per the statement was given by team leader Sandeep, he knows the family of missing person for last 4 years and as per his statement, the missing person was under stress because of his ill habits. His wife had abandoned home for last six months as he used to consume Corex and other narcotic substances.”

During the trip, reportedly, the said person was not interested in offering pooja at Vaishno Devi and left the Yatra half way and retired back to his hotel room for rest. The said pilgrims reached Srinagar on 09/05/218 and hired three rooms at hotel Sunshine Guest House and on 10/05/2018 at about 9:30 am the said pilgrims left Srinagar towards Mattan for worship and after reaching Mattan the said person was not again interested in offering prayers and left the Mattan Temple without worship. Other members were busy in Pooja at Mattan temple for about one and a half hour and when they came out they could not trace Rahul,” the spokesman said.
