In view of the possibilities of Muharram processions being taken out in various city areas, the state police have decided to impose restrictions on Sunday in the respective areas.
A senior police officer told local news agency, KNS that the restrictions will be imposed, as a precautionary measure, “in the civil lines areas from Regal Chowk to Abi Guzar Chowk, “whileas, similar restrictions will also be effective in areas from Hawal to Ali Masjid in the old city”, the officer added.
He said the restrictions are being implemented to thwart possibilities of any untoward incidents in the city. “Our aim is to maintain peace and ensure safety of life and property. We appeal people to help us in maintaining peace and tranquillity in the city”, he added.
Meanwhile in the late evening, all the roads leading to Hawal were blocked by the heavy contingent of police.
