The initiatives aim to ease vehicular and pedestrian movement at the congested Nallah Amir Khan Chowk junction, which sees heavy traffic from Buchpora, Soura, 90-Feet Road and Nowshera.

According to the reply in the Legislative Assembly to a starred question by MLA Tanvir Sadiq, the Roads and Buildings/Planning departments confirmed that frequent traffic bottlenecks are being experienced at the hospital’s main approach, endangering patients, attendants and emergency vehicles.

The footbridge project has already seen Rs 12 lakh released to the Chief Engineer, Central Kashmir, with completion targeted in the next financial year. Additionally, the overhead pedestrian pathway was sanctioned with the support of the Chief Minister and local MLA following long‐standing demands from residents and hospital staff.
