Hundreds of people participated in the funeral procession of young cop from Srinagar city who was shot dead by suspected militants on Tuesday night outside Bijbehara Police Station in South Kashmir’s Islamabad district.
Police Constable Arif Nazir Khan (26), a native of Safakadal presently putting up at Parimpora Qamarwari according to his father was a gentle soul who never wished bad for anyone.
“The assailants did not attack on any police party but they targeted my son only. He received two bullets in neck and I fail to understand why he was targeted when he never did anything wrong to anybody,” Nazir Ahmed Khan, a retired private company employee told CNS.
“Arif joined police force in 2011 just to feed his family. He was motherless and his marriage was due in September this year. We had celebrated his engagement ceremony only ten days back. He was earning for his sister and was keen to see her in wedding bridal makeup,” he said.
Hundreds of people participated in his funeral process and he was laid to rest at his ancestral grave yard located at Babapora Zoonimar Srinagar shortly after morning prayers on Wednesday.
