Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Ali Mohammad Sagar Sunday conducted an extensive tour of flood affected areas of Srinagar City and get first hand appraisal of the pace of relief and rehabilitation being provided to flood affected families there.

According to a statement issued to KNS Interacting with the people, the Minister said that the Government has been taking every possible step for their rehabilitation, saying that it has also submitted a comprehensive package to Government of India for their rehabilitation.

Sagar said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has been personally monitoring the relief and rehabilitation measures and taking two meeting daily for getting first hand information of the pace of relief and rehabilitation being extended to flood affected. The Government is providing free of cost ration for three months for flood affected families, he added.

The Minister said that certain forces are trying to politicize the human tragedy, adding that we have to arise above the political consideration so that the catastrophe is addressed properly.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Minister’s today’s tour is also a part of the exercise which he has been undertaking for last seven days to get first hand information about the pace of relief and rehabilitation being provided to the flood affectees.
