SRINAGAR: The State Bank of India (SBI) has reported a suspected exposure of 3,897 customer records on the dark web, saying the incident had no material impact on its core operations, financial performance or business continuity.
In a filing with stock exchanges, the bank said a preliminary analysis of around 3.75 lakh records found online had identified customer information containing personally identifiable details.
The potentially exposed information includes names, registered mobile numbers, dates of birth, gender, email addresses and residential addresses. The records also reportedly contain branch identifiers and metadata associated with loan and lead records.
SBI said it received alerts about the suspected data exposure on October 16 from its threat intelligence service provider, the Defence Cyber Agency and the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In).
The bank said the incident had not materially affected its business continuity or financial performance.
