SRINAGAR: Society of Dental Surgeons J&K (SDSJK) is aghast over the barbaric act of cops towards a cardiologist & strongly condemns this inhuman and unconstitutional behaviour.
Dr Imtyaz Banday President SDSJK said that Dr Syed Maqbool a leading & reputed interventional cardiologist who was on way to his duty to SMHS hospital on Arfa (day before Eid) was manhandled, thrashed, abused & detained by cops at Srinagar. This act against a humble doctor reiterates the fact that it has become a routine for doctors to face such inhuman behaviour.
The behavior of the police has been deplorable to say the least – we as frontline workers have been working day in and day out risking our lives and families only to be harrassed. We as the administration have raised the issue with concerned authorities and hope for swift action.

He said that there needs to be a deterrence in this regard & responsibility be fixed so that law upholders should not become habitual lawbreakers.
He also said that high-level impartial enquiry be established and justice be delivered in favour of the doctor as the said doctor is known for his humility, dedication & humbleness. He is not the only an asset for J&K but the whole world and humiliating doctor of such a calibre is a shame to authorities if they don’t act. Dr Shabir another doctor faces the same wrath during the current Covid crisis and was manhandled too.
Dr Adil Wani Spokesperson SDSJK said that doctors across the valley are agonised & furious by thus autocratic behaviour and more so because whole medicos are taxed due to covid duties already. Such ugly incidents happen in only this part of the world and it’s high time that responsibility & action as per rules be initiated.
SDSJK is in touch with all medical associations of J&K and a joint strategy shall be devised if Govt. fails to deliver justice to the victim.
