Search Enters Fourth Day for Srinagar Man Who Drowned While Saving Son in Pahalgam

   

SRINAGAR: Search operations entered the fourth consecutive day on Wednesday as the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Anantnag continued efforts to trace the body of a 42-year-old Srinagar man who is feared to have drowned in the Lidder River in Pahalgam while trying to save his son.

Officials identified the missing person as Mohammad Ashraf Mir, son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Mir, a resident of Ikhrajpora, Jawahar Nagar in Srinagar.

The incident took place on Sunday near the Langanbal area of Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

According to officials, the family was taking photographs along the banks of the Lidder River near the Kolahoi Green Hotel when Mir’s son, Fahad, slipped into the fast-flowing river.

In an attempt to rescue him, Mir entered the water but was swept away by the strong current.

Immediately after the incident, search and rescue operations were launched. The effort resumed on Wednesday morning, with SDRF teams and other rescue personnel continuing their operations to locate the missing man.
