SRINAGAR: The search operation to trace and retrieve the body of a 10-year-old boy who accidentally drowned in the Kishanganga River in the Gurez area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district entered its third day on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Babar Bashir Sheikh, a resident of Sheikhpora, Tulail, who reportedly drowned near Sheikhpora on July 6.
Officials said teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been carrying out an extensive search operation along the river since the incident in an effort to recover the body.
The operation is continuing despite the challenging river conditions, with SDRF personnel conducting systematic searches in and around the area where the boy is believed to have drowned.
The body had not been recovered when the report was filed, and the search operation was continuing.
