SRINAGAR: The search operation to trace the body of a 10-year-old boy who accidentally drowned in the Kishanganga River in the Gurez area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district entered its fourth consecutive day on Friday, officials said.
The missing boy has been identified as Babar Bashir Sheikh, son of a resident of Sheikhpora, Tulail, Gurez.
Officials said the child accidentally drowned in the Kishanganga River near Sheikhpora, Tulail, on July 6, following which a search and rescue operation was immediately launched.
Teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been conducting an extensive search operation along the river for the past four days to trace and retrieve the body. The operation continued on Friday despite challenging conditions.
Officials said the body had not been recovered till the filing of this report, and the search operation would continue until the boy is traced.
