The Kashmir valley on Sunday witnessed a fortress look as the security forces virtually took charge of the city especially the venue where the Prime Minster Narendra Modi is scheduled to address a rally on Monday.

According to KNS correspondent 30 paramilitary forces companies have been deployed in and around the Stadium while sharp shooters, SPG, and Jammu and Kashmir police have been deployed on nearby buildings.

Sources told KNS that CCTV cameras have been installed inside the stadium while SPG personnel would monitor activities of the crowd with binoculars and besides this the top police officers has also being given job to monitor the proceedings of the rally.

Sources told KNS that people, who would attend the rally, would be frisked at half a dozen places before they enter the Stadium.

The BJP National Secretary and in charge of PM’s rally Tarun Chug told KNS that they were expecting a large number of people to flock the stadium. “We are expecting one lakh people in the rally and for the smooth entry of the participants we have asked the security agencies to maintain soft approach towards the participants.”

Meanwhile, authorities sounded high alert across the Kashmir region, while as tight security arrangements have been made in all the districts and especially around SK Stadium.

According to KNS correspondent joint columns of police and Central Reserve Police Force carried out thorough checking of vehicles, and frisking of pedestrians on Sunday. The forces were seen stopping vehicles at many places for carrying out the searches.

Police sources told KNS that there are apprehensions that militants may try to enter Srinagar to carry out attacks. “Additional deployment of security forces and police is made at several places to stop any untoward incident,” they said.

The searches were conducted almost all the entry points of Srinagar including Qamerwari, Jahangir Chowk, Gantagar, Lal Chowk,Parimpora, Bemina, Hazuri Bagh, Nishat, Nehru Park, Tourist Centre, Residency Road, MA Road and other places.

Security has also been beefed up in north and south Kashmir areas including Sopore, Kupwara, Baramulla, Bandipora, Handwara, Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian and Pamore. Army was also seen caring out checking of vehicles in different areas.

When contacted IGP Kashmir Abdul Gani Mir told KNS that security forces have been alerted to prevent any untoward incident. “We are taking all the proactive measures to ensure the peaceful day tomorrow. The Security forces have been alerted to prevent any untoward incident,” he said.
