SRINAGAR: Security measures have been intensified around the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and Civil Secretariat in Srinagar ahead of the seven-sitting Autumn Session, which begins on September 21.
The General Administration Department (GAD) has issued guidelines regulating vehicle movement and parking in and around the Civil Secretariat during the session.
Under Circular No. 19-JK(GAD) of 2026, private vehicles of Civil Secretariat and Legislative Assembly employees, including police personnel deployed for security duties, will not be permitted inside the Secretariat premises.
Vehicles belonging to the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, ministers, Advisor to the Chief Minister, Speaker and legislators will be parked at designated locations within the Assembly Complex.
Accredited media personnel will be allowed to take authorised vehicles into the Civil Secretariat after security checks. Escort vehicles have been directed to use the designated parking area at Kashmir Haat.
The session will run from September 21 to 30 and will have seven sittings. September 23 has been declared a holiday on account of the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh, while September 26 is an off day and September 27 falls on Sunday.
Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather reviewed security, traffic and transport arrangements with senior officers ahead of the session and directed authorities to ensure comprehensive security measures at the Assembly Secretariat and MLA Hostel.
The session is scheduled to open with obituary references, followed by Question Hour and other listed business.
