After reported letter of Union home minister Raj Nath Singh to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for identifying  ‘suitable’ land for ‘migrants’ in valley, BJP leaders on Monday gave a new twist to return of Kashmiri migrants when its senior leader Subramanyam Swamy made a point that ” to create the circumstance conducive to the return of the Pandits and an answer to ending the strife in the Valley,” there is need to settle 10 lakh ex-servicemen in the Valley

Swamy was addressing a  function to launch a book, ‘Plight of Kashmir: The Unknown Files’, written by G.D. Sharma, a retired judge of the J&K high court.

He further said that the these ex-servicemen “should be given the money and arms, and tasked with retrieving the property of the Pandits.”

While talking about the article 370, Swamy argued for its abrogation of Article 370 and said that the president could, at any time, notify that abrogation of the provision – that it did not need a parliamentary resolution. He also expressed confidence that the BJP would get 30 seats in the 87-member state assembly which would either mean president’s rule or a greater say for the party in the government – allowing it to affect these changes.

During the same function, senior RSS leader Indresh Kumar revealed the Village Defence Committees (VDCs) constituted to tackle militancy in Pir Panjal and Chenab Valley was an idea conceived by the RSS and implemented by the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. “We took active part in selecting and arming the VDCs,” he said.

Reacting to the comments of BJP and RSS leader, a local political on condition of anonymity told Kashmir Life, ” as elections are nearby, BJP has started to show the real face.” He further added that, ” regional parties should unite to fight nefarious designs of RSS.”
