The Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani Monday accused Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of being on war path to crush its political opponents by force.

In a statement issued to KNS, Geelani said that Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah applied PSA against his political opponents followed by Farooq Abdullah, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, and Ghulam Mohammad Shah. “Omar Abdullah regime has surpassed all limits and even the teenagers and students were not spared in his regime and were pushed behind the bars.”

Calling for the early revocation of Public Safety Act (PSA) Geelani said that the Amnesty International has declared it a lawless law and its provisions contradict and defy fundamental rights of a citizen.

“1257 were detained under the provisions of Public Safety Act since 2009 and it is a record and added none of the persons detained was convicted by any court, thus it has proved beyond doubt that the claims of administration and the state government on democracy and tolerance are absurd and ridiculous and the incumbent regime is on the path of war to crush its political opponents by force,” said Geelani in a statement.
