SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Valley and surrounding regions continue to reel under intense cold, with several locations recording sub-zero temperatures on Friday. Shopian was the coldest spot in the Valley, with the minimum temperature plunging to -8.5°C, followed closely by Larnoo at -8.2°C and Anantnag at -7.7°C. Khudwani, Kulgam, and Pulwama also faced biting cold, recording -7.1°C, -6.8°C, and -6.1°C, respectively.

Srinagar, the region’s main city, registered a low of -2.2°C, while Kupwara recorded -1.6°C. Popular tourist destinations like Gulmarg and Pahalgam saw the mercury dip to -4.5°C, while Kokernag and Baramulla recorded -5.5°C and -4.8°C, respectively.
In the Jammu region, temperatures were relatively milder. Jammu city recorded a low of 7.3°C, and Katra experienced a minimum of 11.0°C. However, parts of the region, such as Padder, dipped below freezing at -1.2°C, while Banihal and Bhaderwah recorded 2.0°C and 2.3°C, respectively. Udhampur and Samba experienced lows of 7.3°C and 6.1°C, while Poonch and Kathua recorded 8.1°C and 9.1°C, respectively.
In Ladakh, the winter chill intensified further. Drass was the coldest in the region, with temperatures plummeting to -8.6°C, followed by Kargil at -6.9°C and Leh at -4.4°C.
The data, compiled by Kashmir Weather, underscores the persistent cold wave sweeping across the region, with varying intensities between Kashmir, Jammu, and Ladakh.
