A complete shutdown is being observed on the second consecutive day Monday in south Kashmir’s Shopian district to mourn the killing of two Al Badr militants including top commander Zeenat-ul-Islam.

Reports from the area said all shops, business establishments, and private offices area shut in the district while public and private transport is off the roads.

They said that people from the Shopian and its neighboring districts are visiting the houses of the militants to offer condolences to the families.

Sources said that heavy contingents of government forces were deployed at sensitive locations in the district to maintain law and order, while the mobile Internet service in the district remained suspended for the second consecutive day.

Two Al Badr militants including top commander Zeenat-ul-Islam and his aide Shakeel Ahmad Dar were killed in a gunfight with government forces at Kathpora village of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
