The death of a local militant sparked spontaneous shutdown in Kunzar area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla on Tuesday. All the shops and business establishments remained shut while transport remained off the road.

Pertinently, a youth Abu Bilal of militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen slipped from a cliff while trying to break the Army cordon in Poonch on Monday.

As the body of the slain militant arrived in Kunzar, thousands of people mostly youth took to roads and chanted pro-freedom slogans. Thousands of people participated in the funeral procession of the slain youth Bilal Ahmed Bhat.

Hizbul Mujahideen operational spokesperson Burhanuddin told CNS that, “Bilal Ahmed was affiliated with the outfit who was on a mission when unfortunately he slipped from a cliff and attained martyrdom.

“Outfit Chief Syed Salahuddin and other commanders of Hizb have paid rich tribute to Bilal and expressed sympathies with the bereaved family,” he said.
