Dr Sameer Naqash, prominent Surgeon Prof &unit head upper GI Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic surgery at SKIMS who is also fellow at world renowned Institute – National Cancer Center, Tokyo Japan in gastrointestinal cancers was invited as guest speaker at Prestigious International Gastric Cancer Congress, the highest international forum on gastric cancer in the world, which was held in Verona, Italy.
The forum meets every three years to discuss the different modalities of screening & treatment for gastric cancer. The invitees include eminent doctors and scientists all over world. Prof Naqash from SKIMS was the only invited faculty from SARC Countries.
Dr Naqash, who is also honorary member of Japan Cancer Association presented his RESEARCH PAPER titled TOTAL GASTRIC RESECTION WIT J POUCH RECONSTRUCTION which involves reconstruction of new stomach after removing the stomach for cancer, and this finally helps patients to get nutritional benefits which otherwise patients are deprived of after stomach removal.
Director SKIMS Dr Showkat A. Zargar has congratulated Prof Naqash and said his participation has helped the state in getting cancer stomach on global map which will generate interest of international community towards this killer disease which has high prevalence in our state especially south Kashmir which is having incidence of 60 percent.
