SKUAST authorities in Srinagar have directed fresh batch of M Sc and PhD students to register at the University’s Wadura campus. This is being done in clear violations of the directions issued bt the High Court on December 12 last, informed sources said.

SKUAST students (MSc and Phd) of Division of Agronomy and Plant Breeding and Genetics have been asked to register for spring semester 2015 at Wadura campus and were denied registration cards SKUAST-K’s Shalimar campus. These students are pursuing their studies smoothly and conveniently at Shalimar campus and some of them have already completed their course work and research programmes at Shalimar campus.

Last fall when the authorities directed shifting the faculty of agriculture to Wadura, professors, heads of the departments of agronomy and plant breeding & genetics approached the court. SKUAST was directed by the court to maintain the staus quo.The court direction came on basis of the arguement that faculty of Agriculture is existing at Shalimar. But SKUAST authorities have started enforcing their earlier decesion.

While students are seeking intervention of the governor’s administartion, the petitioners are planning contempt petition for violation of court orders.Governor N N Vohra is the Chancellor of SKUAST(K).
