Government on Saturday ordered closure of all schools and colleges in Baramulla and Sopore townships after the killing of three Lashkar militants.

Reports said that the step has been taken “as a precautionary measure”.

They said that educational institutions have also been shut in Handwara, Hajin and Sumbal areas in northern part of Kashmir.

Meanwhile, authorities have imposed curfew like restrictions in old town area of Baramulla district.

Locals said that as soon as the news of the killing of local militant killed in Sopore gunfight spread, a heavy contingent of police and forces were deployed in Khanpora locality of Baramulla town.

They said all the entry and exit point of old town Baramulla were sealed by police and people were not allowed to move.

Reports said that one of a slain militant killed in the encounter was identified as Javed Ahmad Dar of Khanpora area of old town Baramulla.
