Complete shutdown is being observed in Sopore town of Baramulla district to mourn the death of slain militant commander Muzaffar Naikoo.

Reports said that all the business establishments are shut while transport is completely off the roads.

Muhammad Muzaffar Naikoo, alias Muzza Molvi was killed in a brief gunfight with forces in Muchwa area on the outskirts of Srinagar city on Friday.

Muzaffar had joined the militant ranks in 2007.

Massive deployment of forces has been made in old parts of the town including Batpora, Chankhan and Iqbal Market.

Police sources informed that deployment has been made in order to prevent the clashes between youth and forces that frequently take place in the area.

On Friday thousands of people braving heavy snowfall participated in the funeral prayers of slain Muzaffar.
