Refuting the recent news reports about dropping some ministers from Congress in Jammu and Kashmir over corruption allegations, the party high command has cleared that there is no such idea at the moment.

A Jammu based news paper quoting senior Congress leader and Political Advisor to UPA chairperson Ahmad Patel said that if the Chief Minister of the State has been asked to continue then why the other minister’s would be removed and that too the senior leaders.

Quoting Patel, the newspaper said, his party is not pushing for any reshuffle in the Jammu and Kashmir government. “It’s clear that there is no news of removing any party minister in the Jammu and Kashmir State, those who has been involved in the scam will be expelled only if found guilty,” the newspaper reported.

Senior Congress leader Abdul Gani Khan who recently met Congress chief Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi told KNS that he discussed three issues with her. “The issue of hanging of Afzal Guru, drug scam and the reports of some ministers being dropped in J&K were discussed in the meeting. Sonia ji told me that there is no proposal to drop any minister and such reports shouldn’t be considered,” he said.

“I also demanded that people involved in drug scam should be punished. She said that the high command was looking into the matter,” he added.

A section of media quoting undisclosed sources had reported recently that Congress high command was seriously mulling to refurbish the party’s image in state by dumping some tainted leaders and put out new faces before the people. It had mentioned the name of Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, Minister for Medical Education Taj Mohiuddin and Minister of State for Cooperatives Manohar Lal.

When contacted Taj Mohi-ud-Din termed the recent reports that he will dropped from the ministry as baseless. “It is being done to tarnish my image,” he told KNS.

State Congress President Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz Friday while declining to comment over the issue said, “Only the statement which comes from me is authentic. If some one is giving some statement I’m not responsible for that.”
