Heavy gunfire and artillery shelling rattled from Kupwara forests on Friday where a joint search operation launched by army’s 41 RR and SOG entered the eighth day.
Sources said that militants escaped into the Manigah forests in Hyhama area of frontier district on 17th November for the third time in a week killing an Indian army colonel.
Officials told reporters that forces fired some shots after suspecting the presence of militants in the forests at Rangta Top between Kalaroos and Manigah. “It was a speculative fire to sensitize the forest area,” a police official was quoted in media as having said. “However, there was no reaction to the fire.”
