The Horticulture department Monday launched a drive against sale of spurious and sub-standard fungicides in Shopian district and seized large quantity of spurious fungicides.

A team of officers comprising of Horticulture Development Officer Mukhtar Ahmad and Subject Matter Specialist Mohammad Ramzan War visited several areas in the district and analyzed the quality of fungicides available at various agro sale centres.

“The team seized 40kg of CM-75 (carbendazim13%+mancozeb63%) Batch No.s/kre.517.used as systemic and contact fungicide at pink bud stage on apple trees,” Horticulture Officer Mukhtar said. “The CM-75 is a substandard product, which was proved last year after sampling of the said product.”

Mukhtar said, the department had warned the dealers not to sell product with batch number as KRE 517 manufactured by Krishi Rasayan Ent. Delhi.

The team has produced challan in District court Shopian against the erring dealer.

The team directed the dealers to sell only such fungicides, which have been recommended by the Agriculture University, warning stern action against erring dealers.
