SRINAGAR
Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Wednesday described Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) a movement rather than a mere political party adding that NC’s well-defined political agenda for modern and model Jammu and Kashmir is its bulwark.
“The workers of NC are epitome of sacrifice and selfless service who have withstood all challenges and proven their loyalty towards the people, the party and its leadership time and again”, he said while addressing the NC office bearers and the party legislators of Srinagar District.
Omar Abdullah who is also the Working President of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference said that NC will fight the next Assembly Election on its political and development agenda. He said that the Party represents aspirations of all the regions and the sections of the society. He said people have always reposed faith in NC and its leadership for its state-forwardness and sincerity. He said NC lives in the hearts of the people like their heartbeats because they know that this party has always kept public cause as its benchmark in the political agenda since its inception.
The Working President said, “Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah has transferred a peoples movement to us in the shape of National Conference and we have to nurture it in the same form”, he told NC activists and urged them to work selflessly in the same spirit as has been exhibited by the companions of the Sher-i-Kashmir and the senior workers.
“You have to reaffirm that your trait is not to deceive people for the chair. You have to show them that your party is above power politics or vested interest. You have to show them by your work and deeds that you are the recipients and inheritors of highest human values, secular credentials and democratic philosophy. You have to exhibit that universal brotherhood, equitable progress and inclusive development is the soul of NC’s political agenda”, he told the party workers and emphasized on the need of making young generation aware of the sacrifices made by NC, its leadership and workers since its inception without changing the stance despite so many difficulties and challenges.
Calling Srinagar as the strong hold of the philosophy and political agenda of National Conference, Chief Minister said that the people of Srinagar District have suffered deeply for their wholehearted affiliation with National Conference. “We are aware of all the difficulties you had to face for supporting NC. We know your support to this party is for a cause. We will not let you down. We will do everything possible to realize your needs”, he assured people of Srinagar District and said that his party would foil all attempts of weakening Srinagar.
