SRINAGAR: Traffic department authorities on Saturday said that on Sunday subject to fair weather and better road condition only one-way traffic shall be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar including Ramban-Banihal (local traffic) on Jammu-Srinagar highway.
The traffic department in an advisory said no vehicle including livestock/fresh perishables shall be allowed in the opposite direction.
“TCU Jammu shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic,” said the advisory.
“The weight-bearing capacity of installed bailey bridge is less than 40 metric ton,” it reads.
“LMVs will have to cross Nagrota Jammu from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and from Jakheni (Udhampur) 11:00 pm to 03:00pm and no Vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timing,” it said.
It said that heavy motor vehicles shall be allowed Jakheni (Udhampur) towards Srinagar after light motor vehicles.
“Government Forces are advised/requested not to ply against advisory/traffic plan in view of traffic congestion on Jammu-Srinagar NHW and narrowness of Bailey bridge. They may ply from Jammu towards Srinagar after confirming the status of highway,” it reads.
The historic Mughal Road and SSG Road is closed due to snow accumulation, reads the advisory.
It said that Srinagar-Leh highway is closed by the J&K Government vide Divisional Commissioner Kashmir’s order No. 400/2020 dated 30-12-2020 till further orders.
People have been advised not to travel on the highway without confirming the status of the road from phone numbers Jammu (0191-2459048, 9419147732), Srinagar (0194-2450022, 2485396,18001807091), Ramban (9419993745) and Udhampur (8491928625).
