Srinagar Youth Returns from Myanmar After 2-Month Ordeal

SRINAGAR: Faizan Rasool, a resident of Srinagar, whose pursuit to seek job opportunity alongside twenty-eight countrymen met a dead end after playing into hands of fraudsters in Myanmar, has finally arrived back home here on Friday after two months.

Faizan, a resident of Safakadal Srinagar, was lured by fraudsters on the pretext of a job, like over a dozen other countrymen. While the job quest didn’t yield, Faizan was caught in a quagmire as they had to traverse the border of Thailand, only to get stuck in Myanmar, with twenty-eight fellows, including a girl.

The stranded citizens made repeated pleas, personally as well as through media, to reach out to embassies, but no proper response came for over a period of almost forty days. We at Kashmir Bulletin carried exclusive stories on multiple occasions, trying to nudge the top authorities about the plight of the stranded citizens, especially of Faizan Rasool.

To everyone’s delight, especially Faizan Rasool’s, it recently came in public that he would, alongside others, reach back home very soon. After a few more days of wait, a flight finally carried back the citizens, with Faizan himself landing at Srinagar International Airport a while ago.

Confirming the development, Faizan Rasool’s family conveyed their gratitude, “We thank everyone for making it possible that our beloved is reunited with us after facing this much ordeal,” a family member said. (KB)
