Reiterating that Kashmiri people have full sympathy with the family of Sarabjit who died due to an attack in Kot LakhPath Jail Pakistan, independent lawmaker, Er Rasheed on Friday said that the state funeral given to Sarabjit has ruthlessly exposed the double standards of India.
“From Prime Minister of India to Chief Minister of Punjab, every Indian politician and official is calling Sarabjit a martyr and leaving no stone unturned to glorify him despite knowing that he was sentenced to death by Pakistani Supreme Court for carrying out a blast killing 14 innocent people,” Rasheed said in a statement on Friday. “It seems that ghost of nationalism has overcome the morality and ethical values in Indian society and establishment.”
MLA Langate said Rahul Gandhi, the Prime Ministerial candidate of congress, besides BJP top leaders attended the funeral of Sarabjit and “shed their tears for a person who had done a heinous crime worst than the one Afzal Guru was hanged for”.
Rasheed said J&K chief minister and other mainstream political parties including PDP who are day and night making false and tall claims of representing sentiments and aspirations of their people should learn a lesson from the death of Sarabjit and the response and reaction of Indian government, politicians, media and civil society, afterwards and should seek an unconditional apology from the ill fatted people of Jammu & Kashmir for not being only unable to save life of Afzal Guru but failed miserably to get back his dead body to offer the last religious rites at his native village.
“The incident should act as an eye opener for those Jammu & Kashmir police officers and jawans who are round the clock very keen to find even a smallest clue and then find an excuse to kill their own sons of soil by labeling them as either OGWs or militants,” Rasheed said.
MLA Langate expressed his deep concern over the barbaric attack on a Pakistani prisoner in Koth Bilwal Jail Jammu and whose condition is stated to be critical. He said that the cowardly, inhuman incident seems to be an organized damn act of revenge patronaged by the jail authorities at the directions of Home Ministry in New Delhi.
Rasheed warned that if jail authorities in various jail continue inhuman behavior with the prisoners in various jails in and outside jails it will be resisted with cooperation from the masses.
