SRINAGAR: A protest rally was organised in Kargil on Tuesday against the alleged NEET-UG paper leak, with participants also expressing solidarity with activist and education reform campaigner Sonam Wangchuk, who is on an indefinite hunger strike in New Delhi.
The rally drew the participation of students, youth and local residents, who demanded a fair and transparent examination system and called for accountability over the alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG examination.
Protesters raised slogans against examination malpractice and urged the authorities to take stringent action to restore confidence in the integrity of national-level competitive examinations.
The demonstrators also expressed support for Wangchuk, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital after beginning his fast at Jantar Mantar on June 28, seeking systemic educational reforms and accountability over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak. His protest is being held in solidarity with the youth-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), which has demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged failures in the country’s examination system.
The rally concluded peacefully, and no untoward incident was reported.
