Suspected militants threw a rifle grenade on the police headquarter late last night which exploded in the premises of the very high security zone however there was no damage.
The Police Headquarter is a very sensitive security zone situated in the Batamalo area of the city.
Sources said that the attack took place minutes after a security meeting at the police headquarter attended by, Additional Director General of Police (Armed Police) Shiv Murari Sahai and the Inspector General of Police (IG) Kashmir range, Abdul Gani Mir.
Police sources said that the incident has been taken very seriously by the higher authorities and a thorough investigation was going on.
