Senior NC leader and a candidate for Islamabad Lok Sabha seat Dr Mehboob Beg Saturday urged Chief Electoral Officer and Election Commission to take serious note of the controversy that erupted after PDP president Mehbooba Mufti filed her nomination papers for Lok Sabha seat second time.

Dr Beg while addressing a press conference accused that Mehbooba has ‘misused her official position’ and had also mislead election commission by submitting ‘forged’ documents.

Pertinently, Opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti filed a second set of nomination papers for Islamabad Lok Sabha seat in Kashmir as a measure of “precaution” after some discrepancies were reported in her earlier nomination papers.

Dr Beg stated that if April 1 was the bank holiday and how come the documents related to that date were submitted before the returning officer. He urged the Election Commission of India to investigate the matter thoroughly and stern action be taken against Mehbooba.
