SRINAGAR: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has instructed all States to work with the Delhi Police and take preventive steps to restrict the mobilisation of protesters towards the national capital.
In its communication, the ministry referred to what it described as a “documented history of non-compliance with lawful directions” by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and organisations supporting it during earlier mobilisations. It also said previous protests involving participants travelling to Delhi from different States had caused significant public order disruptions and damage to public property.
The MHA has called for coordination between State authorities and the Delhi Police to prevent similar incidents and maintain public order.
The directions come ahead of a protest planned by the CJP and other organisations in Delhi on October 10. The proposed demonstration is linked to demands for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the revision of electoral rolls.
