The Shopian district president of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Muhammad Yousuf Falahi was today arrested by police from Chanapora area of Srinagar city.
SSP Shopian Tahir Saleem told Kashmir Life that they received specific information about the presence of Falahi in a house in Chanapora area of Srinagar city.
A special police team from Shopian reached the spot and arrested Falahi from the house, he said.
Falahi is Shopian chief of Syed Ali Geelani led Tehreek-e-Hurriyat. He had been holding and addressing pro-freedom rallies ever since July 09, 2016 and was on the run because of the police raids.
Police had raided his home several times but he would manage to slip away.
He was declared a proclaimed offender and was wanted in several cases.
